Both the apartments in Berlin are in buildings of the traditional Berlin height. Naturally, they are brick/concrete constructions.
Even though both apartments are downtown, very few traffic noises reach the inside, it’s very peaceful.
This, even though the first apartment looked out over very busy train tracks, and the second apartment is in a major street with a bus coming through.
In Vancouver, our last house was on a hill, set back quite a bit from the road, but road noises certainly reached inside.
It’s almost eery sometimes to be sitting in an apartment in central Berlin and to hear very little of the road noise. Of course, that changes significantly when you open the window (yes, Spring is coming!).
